This is the personal blog of Ryan Chua, 23, a Filipino journalist. He put up this page so he can tell stories other than those he delivers for television and the web to earn a living–stories that he finds when he’s not in his beat and on duty.
Here he will write about his everyday life, the people he has met, places he has visited, thoughts on pressing issues, and occasionally, the outbursts of his restless mind.
Ryan has been a reporter since 2008. At present, he covers the Senate of the Philippines for ABS-CBN Channel 2, ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), Studio 23, and abs-cbnNEWS.com. He was previously assigned to the Commission on Elections beat during the country’s first nationwide automated polls in 2010. He has also done stories on crimes, disasters, and various other topics.
Aside from day-to-day reporting, Ryan occasionally writes and hosts documentaries for “Patrol ng Pilipino,” ABS-CBN’s weekly current affairs show for reporters.
Before being a reporter, he was a production assistant at ANC and an intern at Newsbreak Online.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication (Journalism track) from the Ateneo de Manila University, where he was a section editor of the student newspaper, The Guidon.
